Head Instructor Monot Promoted to General Manager

As you may already know, we're using the Covid crisis as an opportunity to make Padang Padang Surf Camp even better.

Our yoga studio has been expanded to serve as a sports and activities area including skateboard ramps, functional fitness equipment and kickboxing gear.

In line with our environmental policy, we've been busy planting new trees and plants to add more shade and reduce our reliance on air-conditioning. As you'd expect, there are plenty of smaller things we've been working on to ensure our facilities remain of the highest standard too.

We've also made some changes to the foundations of the surf camp to carry forward our goal of being Bali's premier surf camp.

If you've stayed with us before, you'll know that our expert instructors are the key ingredient that makes our surf camp the great place that it is to learn to surf or improve your surfing.

With excellent individual abilities, matched with unrivalled communication skills and delivered with patience and attention to detail, we thought it would be a great idea to incorporate the qualities of our instructors into our wider operations.

With that in mind, we are extremely pleased to announce that Monot, our head surf instructor, has been promoted to the position of General Manager where he will — assisted by a team of supervisors — help to oversee all areas of surf camp operations.

For those of you who don't know Monot, he's been working as an instructor since 2014 and more recently leading the team as Head Instructor. His excellent communications skills make him a particular favourite for video analysis and photo reviews, and his in-water instruction is equally impressive.

Monot lists Padang Padang as the best place in the world to live thanks to the abundance of world-class — particularly barrelling — waves on our doorstep.

On the bigger days at Uluwatu, which is his favourite place to surf, you'll find him leading from the front and taking waves that scare most normal humans.

When he's not the centre of attention on top of a board, he's also an accomplished in-water surf photographer and leads his own charitable projects to support Bali's most in-need.

In his new role as General Manager, Monot is most looking forward to an even closer relationship between the guests and instructors that spans both in-water activities and daily surf camp life.

You can find Monot on Instagram, read about his charitable work feeding hungry families in Bali during the Covid crisis and check out his in-water photography skills.
