Uluwatu, a charming coastal paradise located in Bali, Indonesia, is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, vibrant local culture, and world-class waves. As well as being home to arguably the best surf camp, Uluwatu is also home to some of the most awe-inspiring sunset spots in the world. As the day winds down and the golden hour approaches, let’s embark on a journey to explore the five best sunset spots in Uluwatu: The Edge, Single Fin, Suarga, El Kabron, and the Cliffside at Bingin. Prepare to be mesmerized by nature’s stunning spectacle as the sun gracefully dips beyond Bali’s waves and below the horizon.

The Edge

Let’s begin with The Edge, a local gem aptly named as it overlooks the renowned Uluwatu surf break. Operated by Uluwatu’s iconic local surfer, Made Lana, this cosy bar is the ultimate spot for surfers looking for an epic sunset. Enjoy the perfect balance of upbeat music and relaxed post-surf vibes, ideal for engaging in conversation after surfing excellent waves with top local surfers and surf instructors. Here, you can connect with like-minded friends who share a passion for chasing waves, all while witnessing the world’s most consistently 5-star break work its magic as the sun sets over the vibrant Indian Ocean. The Edge is the ideal place to wrap up your day in Uluwatu.

Single Fin

Nestled atop the busy cliffside facing the surf break at Uluwatu and just above The Edge, Single Fin has grown into an iconic venue for beautiful people, friendly vibes, and incredible views. This lively place offers a festive atmosphere and unobstructed views of the lines rolling into Uluwatu. Named after elements of surfboard design originating from the 1970s, the surfing vibes are ever-present. Here you can share what you have learned during your advanced surf session with a spectacular view of The Peak and The Racetrack.

Grab a seat on the cliffside terrace, sip on a refreshing drink, and immerse yourself in the vibrant energy as the sun starts to descend. As daylight fades, Single Fin comes alive with a DJ and the contagious spirit of fellow sunset-seekers. This is the place to be on a Sunday evening as the venue swells with surf-stoked party-goers seeking a wild night. This spot effortlessly combines the natural beauty of the waves of Uluwatu with the vibrant social scene, creating an unforgettable sunset experience.

Suarga

For those looking to embrace the tranquillity of the moment, Suarga is the perfect haven. Situated atop a cliff overlooking Padang Padang, this eco-friendly boutique resort offers an intimate and serene setting to witness the mesmerizing spectacle of the sun setting over the Indian Ocean. With its natural charm and breathtaking panoramic views, Suarga creates a genuine connection between guests and nature. It’s a great place to visit when the swell is pumping, as you can see the barrels of Padang Padang to the left and the long lines of Impossibles to the right of you. On small swell days, observe new surfers trying their best at beginner surf lessons.

Find solace in the infinity pool or indulge in exotic drinks as the vibrant colours of the sky unfold before your eyes. Suarga is a hidden gem that promises a serene and unforgettable sunset experience.

El Kabron

For those seeking a more fun party atmosphere, El Kabron offers an idyllic setting that is sure to leave you spellbound. El Kabron is an iconic upmarket venue with one of the best sunset views in the world. From the cliffside establishment, you can watch the surf breaking at Padang Padang, Impossibles, Bingin, and Dreamland with your drink of choice in hand. This is an excellent choice for dinner with friends or drinks by the pool. There is always a DJ playing great music as you relax and take in the sights. Great food, service, views and atmosphere combined with a perfect cliff-top view!

The music only gets better as you make your way to the bathroom. The ladies’ room has its own private DJ spinning. Need a refresher? Just stop by their perfume bar. Hands down, El Kabron is one of the best sunset spots in Bali.

Bingin Beach

Beautiful views and a great spot to watch the sunset along with all the surfers out on the waves. The nightly beach Seafood BBQ at Bingin Beach is a unique experience and one we highly recommend. For a more local experience, head to the hilltop just beyond the luxe El Kabron. Here is where you find surf instructors playing the guitar and locals hanging out after a long day’s work or after a sunset surf session. Just don’t forget to pack (and pack up) everything you need as you are on your own here at one of the last undeveloped accessible areas along the cliff overlooking the very waves, which made the Uluwatu area famous in the first place.

Uluwatu, with its majestic cliffs and unique venues, serves as a canvas for some of the world’s most breathtaking sunsets. From the raw surfer vibes at The Edge to the vibrant ambience of Single Fin, the serene beauty of Suarga, the refined elegance of El Kabron, to the local experience on the cliffside, Uluwatu is sure to have something for everyone.
