Bali Surf Journal September 2025

If you thought the energy faded after August, think again. September in Bali proved that the Peak High Season has plenty of gas left in the tank. The Indian Ocean remained hyper-active, delivering back-to-back long-period swells that kept the Bukit Peninsula firing all month long.

This wasn’t a wind-down; it was a showcase. We saw the classic dry-season combination of solid Southwest groundswells met by stiff, grooming Southeast trade winds. From the heavy barrels of Padang Padang to The Racetrack at Uluwatu, the conditions were pristine, consistent, and world-class.

The Highlight Reel: Peak Season Perfection

September is when the consistency of the swell meets the best of the trade winds. While the lineups were buzzing with peak season energy, we managed to score incredible waves by timing our sessions perfectly.

  • Baby Padang: While the main peak roared, the inside reef at Baby Padang offered a protected haven. It broke consistently as a gentle, long-ride right-hander—the ultimate classroom for our students to master their pop-ups and line control while the pros charged behind them.
  • Balangan: With the trade winds blowing strong, Balangan was a mechanical racetrack. The high-tide sessions offered long, walling lefts that challenged leg strength and speed generation.
  • Toro Toro: To escape the heavy heavy water of the outer reefs, we utilized the fun, rippable walls of Toro-Toro. It was the perfect playground for working on cutbacks and flow in crystal clear water.
  • Dreamland: When the tides dropped, Dreamland served up its signature A-frames. It offered a punchy, beach-break style alternative to the sharp reefs, delivering fun wedges for snappy turns.
