If you can catch and ride waves on your own but feel like something isn’t clicking, intermediate coaching here goes beyond the basics. We focus on the specific technique, wave selection, and timing issues that stop surfers from progressing — not a repeat of what you already know.

Lessons are available whether you’re staying at the surf camp or based elsewhere in Bali.

What's Included

What An Intermediate Lesson Covers

Every lesson includes in-water coaching with your instructor, a rash vest, and the right surfboard for your level. Sessions are two hours. Most guests do two sessions per day — usually two mornings, or a morning and afternoon split depending on tide and conditions.

The coaching focuses on what intermediates actually need to work on:

  • Technique — weight distribution, trim, body position, timing on take-off
  • Wave selection — reading the lineup, choosing waves that suit your level
  • Speed and flow — maintaining momentum through turns
  • Duck diving — efficient technique for getting through bigger surf
  • Basic manoeuvres — bottom turns, top turns, and how to set them up

Video review is included for guests staying at the surf camp. You watch your own surfing back on screen between sessions — seeing it on video often explains more in two minutes than an hour of instruction in the water. Non-residents are welcome to join video review and surf skate sessions with any lesson booking.

Where We Surf

Breaks That Suit Your Level, Chosen Daily

Intermediate surfers need waves with enough shape to work with — not too slow, not too powerful. Spot selection is based on conditions and your ability, chosen the night before and adjusted if conditions change.

Typical intermediate breaks include Toro Toro, Uluwatu, Balangan, Dreamland, Bingin, and Impossibles, depending on swell size and wind. We’ve been checking these conditions in person every morning since 2005.

Surfboards

The Right Board Makes A Difference

Intermediate surfers benefit from experimenting with board shapes — moving from a Mini Malibu toward a funboard or a shorter performance board as your technique develops. We have a range of options and your instructor will advise on the right choice for your level and the conditions on the day. Equipment is included with lessons.

The right surfboard can make a world of difference, especially for an intermediate surfer. That’s why we offer an extensive array of surfboards of different shapes and sizes, ensuring you always have the perfect board beneath your feet.

What Guests Say

In Their Own Words

The surf guides for us intermediates were unreal, knew exactly where and when would be good, and they were very hands on in giving you pointers on technique and wave selection that is something you would never get trying to figure out the breaks in Bali on your own

Tom, New Zealand, 2022

This place is excellent. We loved every minute! We arrived as a couple at different levels of surfing, myself being intermediate and my girlfriend total beginner. We received great levels of support and local knowledge which allowed me to regularly catch twice the amount of waves as most of the crowds at particular spots and my girlfriend managed to surf breaks safely and well advised.

Craig, Australia, 2021

I was blown away by the quality of the experience at this surf camp! There were so many factors that combined to make it a holiday par excellence. I was a low-intermediate surfer at the start of this trip, but left with great skills and confidence.
