Intermediate Surf Lessons and Coaching in Bali

Improve your surfing with Padang Padang Surf Camp

Why take surf lessons with Padang Padang Surf Camp?

Many intermediates fail to acknowledge the benefits that surf lessons can provide them. Our Intermediate surf lessons are designed for surfers looking to fine-tune their surfing ability and take it to the next level. Our instructors will join you in the water, analyze each wave you catch and provide detailed feedback to help you reach your surfing goals.

We also do theory classes at the surf camp and regular photo review sessions where we analyse your surfing photos and advise on the correct technique. Our surfing photo reviews are conducted in a class room environment and allows us to explain the theoretical and practical aspects of surfing.

Padang Padang Surf Camp has improved the surfing of countless intermediate surfers and our instructors are highly experienced and qualified to Australian standards. What separates us from other surf schools and surf camps is that we are dedicated to surfing locations that are suitable for you. While others may be content with taking their students to the same breaks each and every day, we aren’t. We run a flexible surfing program designed to get the optimum surfing conditions on the day for your ability.

Who are intermediate surf lessons for?

An intermediate can be loosely defined as someone who can catch waves without assistance and can comfortably traverse (turn) across an unbroken (green) wave in both directions and in general an intermediate surfer has been surfing anywhere from a few months to several years. Our intermediate surf lessons are for those who are looking to take their surfing to the advanced level.

We also provide lessons for beginner surfers and surf guiding for advanced surfers.

If you require help deciding if our intermediate surf lessons are right for you, then please do not hesitate to contact us.

What You Will Learn

As an intermediate it is assumed that you are already familiar and proficient with the beginner aspects of surfing; how to correctly paddle, how to select waves, how to pop-up and how to stand correctly on the surf board. However, we recognise that these are skills that can be continually improved upon. Additionally, we teach intermediates the following:

How to create and maintain speed - speed is (almost) everything in surfing. The inability to create and maintain speed is often what holds intermediate surfers back from taking their surfing to the next level

How to take off on any wave - a good take off is absolutely essential and it is important that you’re able to adapt to the ever changing conditions. You will learn how to alter and angle your take off as required

How to perform basic surfing manoeuvres - the bottom turn and the cut back are arguably the two most fundamental manoeuvres and form the base for more advanced moves. You will learn, on a theoretical and practical level, how to properly execute these manoeuvres.

How to duck dive - duck diving is a technique used by surfers to get under waves, so that the waves power rolls over you, this is necessary in order to efficiently reach the line up in many conditions

How much do surf lessons cost?

Surf lessons are available for £30 per person per day (includes board hire) for guests that stay with Padang Padang Surf Camp.

For outside guests the prices are: £40 for 2 sessions (same day) or £25 for 1 session.

Testimonials

A great find for intermediate surfers, the coaching is top notch and will massively up your game. There's a good selection of boards available.”

“I was blown away by the quality of the experience at this surf camp! There were so many factors that combined to make it a holiday par excellence. I was a low-intermediate surfer at the start of this trip, but left with great skills and confidence.

“This place is excellent. We loved every minute! We arrived as a couple at different levels of surfing, myself being intermediate and my girlfriend total beginner. We received great levels of support and local knowledge which allowed me to regularly catch twice the amount of waves as most of the crowds at particular spots and my girlfriend managed to surf breaks safely and well advised.”

The surf guides for us intermediates were unreal, knew exactly where and when would be good, and they were very hands on in giving you pointers on technique and wave selection that is something you would never get trying to figure out the breaks in Bali on your own.”
